Pellerin Laundry Machinery Sales Co. and ABEC Resorts shared an existing relationship through Pellerin providing an upgraded laundry facility for their Silver Shells Beach Resort & Spa property. This existing and growing relationship set the stage for a great laundry design at their new Palms of Destin Resort & Conference Center property. Chuck Davis, the Regional Sales Manager for Pellerin with the aid of key management personnel was able to design a facility that met every need of the properties customer focused design.
To maximize space and convenience the laundry was elected to be built in the corner of their parking garage. This would remove this type of back of the house operation from where the guest would be. With The Palms of Destin providing Condos, both ABEC and Pellerin knew that they had to plan for the large amount of linen that would be changed out on a Saturday Check Out. This was accomplished through proving a soiled linen storage area on the second floor with laundry chutes delivering to the linen to the bottom floor right at the washers.
The washers selected were determined through an extensive property analysis prepared by Pellerin. The analysis detailed the quantity applied to each type of linen. With a weight per each item, this provided the needed hour production demand that this property would be facing on an every day basis. The washers used to handle this demand was (3) Milnor Model 42026V6J 140lb Washers and (1) Milnor Model 30022T5X 60 lb Washer. This mix would provide manageable loads and allow smaller
special loads to go through the smaller washer effectively.

The dryers selected were (4) Milnor Model MLG 175 Gas Heated Dryer. This dryer with its roller drive and basket support system was designed to be matched with the 140 lb washers selected. These dryers offer solutions to everyday operation issues such as the Lint Draw Monitoring, where the dryer monitors whether the lint screen has been cleaned or not. At the end of every load the screen will tell the operator to clean the lint, if they do not at the end of three loads the dryer will not let them start the next load until the lint screen has be cleaned. This maintains the operation of the dryer at the highest efficiency. Some other features of this dryer include Ignition Retries, Sail Switch Monitoring, Rotation Monitoring, and Control Voltage Monitoring all of which eliminate operation issues that plague other dryer lines.

ABEC Resorts had efficiency in mind when selecting the equipment they furnished in there new laundry facility. They selected Hamilton Engineering’s EVO DUO System. This Condensation Water Heater System provides them with 99.8% operation efficiency and redundancy with two heaters stage fired in normal operations. These types of systems come pre-plumbed to make the installation as easy as possible. With the Stainless Steel Burner Assembly and Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger it has an expected lifespan increased to fifteen years over traditional tank type water heaters which normally have a five year lifespan. The durability alone justifies the increase in initial capital cost not to mention the day to day heating cost saving with the increased efficiency rating. They also purchased an Ingersoll-Rand Rotary Screw Air Compressor System with integral Air Dryer to supply the needed compressed air demand.
