When Sandestin was undergoing an expansion that would increase its accommodations more than 30% in 2005, they asked local property managers who they would recommend to handle their laundry facility expansion. Pellerin Laundry Machinery Sales Co was recommended by several local managers for their reputation in supplying durable, efficient laundry equipment solutions.
Sandestin was looking at processing more than 3,500,000 lbs per year. They knew they had to find the most efficient way to process this amount of linen.

Pellerin Laundry Machinery Sales Co. provided two solutions to their growth of which they chose to save more than 40% on their overall processing cost per pound. They chose Milnor’s Continuous Batch Washer for its ability to save water through its water reuse design and labor with its automation features that handle the goods from the washer to the dryer. They purchased a 76039G3-8 module 150lb Batch Washer of which is loaded by Milnor’s weighing loading conveyor. This aloud one person to load 3,500 lbs per hour and operate the system while doing so. Behind the three 64058 Gas Heated Dryers is the only other person needed to process this task. He stages the carts that these automated dryers discharge their loads into. These Milnor 64058 System Dryers will dry a 300lb load of terry towels in 18 minutes including the cool-down cycle.

With the laundering process automated and delivering results that match our projected savings, this upgrade has proven to be the very best decision that Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort could have made.

Sandestin knew they had to upgrade their finishing side to handle the washing capacity of the new CBW. They chose to upgrade an existing 18 year old Chicago Ironer Line with a new one. Through site visits of various operating plants, they chose Chicago again. They purchased a Chicago King Edge Cornerless Feeder for its ability to handle the King size sheet without having to find the corners of the sheet. The King Edge also has a bypass conveyor that moves into place when they need to run fitted sheets and small pieces such as Pillow Cases and Napkins. This feature allowed them faster changeover between types of linen. During these site visits they viewed the Chicago Powerhouse Ironer. This Ironer is a self contained thermal heated Ironer

that has a high efficiency onboard boiler system utilized to heat the thermal oil. This would provide them with 15-25% greater efficiency over the traditional steam headed deep chest ironer. They matched this Feeder and Ironer with Chicago’s Skyline S-16 automated folder with a 4-lane Aircumulator. This would complete this Ironer Line and provide them with a high production and flexible system with limiting changeovers to a bare minimum amount of time.

With their no-dry Flatwork Linen side complete and ready to handle the increase in production, they turned their focus to the full-dry finishing side and decided to purchase a Chicago Air Chicago Small Piece Folder to go with one they already have. This decision was made due to the flexibility of the discharge conveyor on the Air Chicago. They could have it set up to return to feeder and change it should they need to due to future growth and have it discharge onto a conveyor going to a central Pack-Out Area.

Sandestin’s next direction of focus was on their ancillary equipment to support the additional processing equipment in their laundry facility. Pellerin Laundry Machinery Sales Co. introduced Kemco’s Heat Reclamation System to the managers and they seen the immediate advantages. This system utilizes the heat from the water discharged from the washer to heat the incoming water by 40 degrees. This would provide them with daily savings on their energy cost. They also purchased an Ingersoll Rand Rotary Screw Air Compressor and a Hurst Boiler System to provide the additional heat needed to operate the CBW.

This laundry upgrade was done through the month of June with out shutting their laundry down and ready for operation by their July Fourth week of which all the new properties where online and booked solid.
