Pellerin Laundry Machinery Sales Company continues to offer State-of-the-Art Energy Saving Equipment. With the ever-rising cost of gas, water and electricity our customers are continually searching for ways to lower their utility costs. In a typical plant there are several ways to capture and utilize energy that would otherwise be wasted.

The following are some examples of Energy Saving Equipment:

Wastewater Heat Recovery

Wastewater heat recovery systems capture the heat from the processed wastewater to pre-heat incoming fresh water. For example, if the temperature of incoming fresh water is as low as 60ºF, a Heat Recovery system can effectively preheat that water to within 5ºF of the dirty wastewater stream recovering up to 60% of the water heating energy required. There is a typical 12 to 24 month return on your investment with a Heat Reclaimer.

Boiler Stack Economizer

During a boiler’s operation, exhaust stack temperatures from large boilers are typically 450 - 650°F. Stack Economizers recover some of this heat for pre-heating water. The water is most often used for boiler make-up water or some other need that coincides with boiler operation. Stack Economizers should be considered as an efficiency measure when large amounts of make-up water are used (ie: not all condensate is returned to the boiler or large amounts of live steam are used in the process so there is no condensate to return) or there is a simultaneous need for large quantities of hot water for some other use. The savings potential is based on the existing stack temperature, the volume of make-up water needed, and the hours of operation. Economizers are available in
a wide range of sizes, from small coil-like units to very large waste heat recovery boilers.

Water Reuse Systems

Through the utilization of microfiltration and wastewater treatment, we are capable of reusing up to 90 % of a typical laundry’s wastewater. Water usage is drastically reduced by reclaiming and treating 100% of the wastewater. Approximately 10% of the total water used in the wash process is lost through evaporation, and an additional 5% is used for backwashing the filters. The net amount of water recycled and sent back to the washing machines can be up to 85% of the washing machines total water intake. Re-use systems provide the added benefits of tremendous energy savings since the recycled water is already pre-heated. Depending on water usage, return on investments can vary from 1 to 5 years.
